Almost all professionals unionise
--they bandy together and try to set industry standards, and share best practices.
The American Economics Association (AEA) is exactly what it sounds like (and no it is not a union but it is certainly one stop-shop for all things Economics related. Who is doing what work, how can we learn from these, how can we arrange meet-ups for these, Economics related jobs and internships, fellowships and scholarships.....and so much more!)
As the AEA describes: 'Once composed primarily of college and university professors in economics, the American Economic Association (AEA) now attracts 20,000+ members from academe, business, government, and consulting groups within diverse disciplines from multi-cultural backgrounds. All are professionals or graduate-level students dedicated to economics research and teaching.'
So, as an Economics student/faculty/trainee if you want to explore....go ahead!
